Some Tips On Shopping For Kids And Teens

Saturday, April 17th, 2010

Making your kids happy can sometimes be difficult, especially when it comes to getting them the right clothes and accessories. Fashion for kids and teens changes just as much as it does for adults. If you’re having trouble figuring out what to buy for your kids, this article may be able to help you.

Before you try buying your kids something, have some idea of what they like and don’t like. You may have your ideas about what you want them to have and wear, but you must also be aware of their tastes.

Many schools now expect kids to do a lot of online research and to hand in assignments that are typed, not handwritten. If your child does not currently have reliable access to a computer, you should think about investing in a laptop that can be used for school work only. This laptop will aid your child in getting work done much faster.

Kids and teens have a tendency to like flashy clothing. You can actually buy T-shirts that have a graphic lcd embedded within them. This lcd will display a message or a moving image. Some even allow an MP3 player to be hooked up to it, so that the screen can react to the music in real time. Also, these kinds of shirt are not expensive. They cost just a little more than a regular tee.

You can even buy shirts that have custom lcd screens on them. These shirts allow you or your child to decide what is displayed. All you have to do is hook the shirt up to a computer, and then you can program in whatever words or pictures you want to.

It’s a good idea to get your child a watch. A leather watch is usually a good buy, since they are very durable and comfortable to wear. This kind of watch should last for a long time. Also, if your child has a watch, they will never be able to say that they are late for anything because they didn’t know what the time was.

Purchase a sturdy backpack with very good straps. Ensure that the straps are amply padded so it is comfortable to wear. Also, stick to solid colors and simple patterns for older children. This will allow them to use the backpack for years to come, since it will not look childish.

If you’re struggling to get your kids stuff they actually want, figure out what they actually like first. Then go out and get them appropriate and fun items that suit both of your tastes.

There Aren’t A Lot Of Job Choices For Teenagers

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

As the New Year approaches, many teenagers are readying themselves to hunt a summer job. With this failing economy the number of jobs for teens are following, and next year may be worse than the last. Only those teens that think ahead will have a job waiting on them. Many teens just don’t want to take up a job; they’d rather be enjoying their free time. However, those who wish to help their families or make money to save up to go to college need to do all they can during the summer months to have enough money saved up.

The kinds of jobs 13 and 14 year olds can get are pretty slim. Kids around the age of 13 to 15 start thinking about getting jobs when their parents want them to learn responsibility and see how it is in the real world. There really aren’t that many jobs open for a child that age though, and this year with jobs being so hard to find it might be really tough to find one.

Young teens are very limited by the law as to what kinds of jobs they can get. This is because they need to be protected from doing anything dangerous or hazardous and their safety is the most important. Additionally, there are government restrictions on the hours they can work because they need to remain in school to get an education. During the summer months, the hours they are allowed to work are expanded but they are still limited.

Many companies refuse to hire any teen below the age of 16 because they do not believe them to be mature enough to handle the job, along with the law enforced restrictions. It just is not worth putting these young teens to work for most companies. Also when hiring employees so young, they may be required to have additional insurance to cover them, which adds up to their expenses.

With real jobs very hard to find, young teens find themselves looking for odd jobs around the house and their neighborhoods to make that spending money they want. Babysitting has always been a favorite as has doing yard work and mowing. However, these sporadic jobs are not enough for most teenagers to bring in any meaningful money and they wish there were more ways for them to make money.

Job Ideas For Teens This Summer

by Seth Myers

Trying to find your first job as a young teen is never easy and now with the economy being so bad it is even harder. When you are a teenager you are sometimes treated as a young adult and sometimes as a child and this make for a confusing time for some. Getting your first job is something that is an adult type activity and will require you to show responsibility.

Young teens have many abilities and it is a good idea to try to find a job where you can use some of those abilities. If you have any special talents such as singing, painting, or writing you might be able to get a job that involves those skills. For your first job you will want something that is not too demanding, you can enjoy (at least somewhat), and pays a reasonable amount. You may also want it to be something you can do part time so that you can go to school or do other things as well.

If you start looking for your first job by contacting people you know, you might be able to find someone that is willing to help you out. Friends of your parents and friends of friends are always a good way to make contacts and you could be lucky to get a job that way. You might also start looking for jobs in you immediate area like pizza restaurants and so forth.

If you are good with children, try applying part-time in a day care or as a tutor. You could teach children, fellow teens, and even fellow adults if you have some knowledge in music, science, match, or any foreign language.

Some teens have skills they might be able to market to others on their own and make money that way. They can charge for things like weeding gardens, babysitting, pet sitting and walking, and mowing lawns to earn some extra money. An enterprising teen might be able to line up enough clients to even earn enough money to make it equal to or better than a real job. The more things a teen can do and the more people they can find who might want their services would mean the more money they could make.

The Internet also provides some opportunities for teenagers that are good on computers. There is a market for designing websites, designing graphics and writing and you can often find people online willing to pay for those skills. The online world is a new way anybody can earn some extra money and teens can take advantage of it too if they are so inclined. Teenagers who show the most creativity with their skills and they way they market those skills will be the ones who have the best chance of finding jobs or making their own job.
